January Exploration Term
January Exploration Term allows students to engage in internships, classes, travel-abroad, and research for four weeks in January. Some examples from numerous classes in 2016 were Service Learning in Uganda (teaching English at schools), Travels in Spacetime (theories of relativity, gravity, and black holes), various internships (pre-law, business, pre-health, etc). January Exploration term provides students to explore their interests apart from the regular semester.
Harrison Honors Program
Birmingham-Southern features the Harrison Honors Program. Harrison Honors program’s requirement is taking five honors seminars and one independent project that is outside the student’s major. Some of the perks are priority registration, honors dormitory, and research stipends for up to $3,000.
Rise3 stands is a program that encourages internships, research, and service learning. Students who complete a Rise3 program will be celebrated in campus-wide forums.
There are much scientific research opportunities available in Birmingham-Southern College. All science majors in BSC are required to complete a senior capstone research project. Also, motivated students are able to participate in research with professors as early as their second semester of their freshman year.
Birmingham-Southern College Scholarships
International students are eligible for an automatic scholarship up to $27,000 which are based on your GPA and SAT scores. Also, international students are able to receive merit/need-based scholarship. Birmingham-Southern College will meet 100 percent of the demonstrated need for international students up to the full cost of attendance.
