Shackouls Honors College Summer Study at Oxford
Honors College students in Mississippi State are eligible for honors-only scholarships, an option of living in excellent honors housings, smaller honors classes, and priority course registration. Besides those benefits, Honors College collaborates with Oxford University to send many honors students to Oxford University each summer. In Oxford, honors students will be taught by Oxford professors and live on its campus. There is no set standardized score and GPA to be admitted to the honors college. All students are welcome to apply, but the average ACT score of admitted students was 30 and average GPA was 3.8.

Combined Awards for Freshman Non-Resident Scholarships
- Students with 33-36 ACT, or 1490-1600 SAT and 3.5+ GPA will receive $16,500-$18,000 per year.
- Students with 34+ ACT will receive an additional scholarship that covers one year of room costs.
- Students with 35+ ACT will receive an additional scholarship for Study Abroad ($3,000-$4,000).
Additional Scholarship that can stack with Combined Awards for Freshman Non-Resident Scholarships
- Students who are Valedictorian in their class will receive $1,500 per year.
- Students who are Salutatorian in their class will receive $1,000 per year.
- Students who were presidents of the entire student body will receive $1,500 per year.
- Students with 30+ ACT who major in engineering, pre-med, forestry, or accounting will be eligible for $3,000 per year (Note: This scholarship is not automatic, but if you score above 33 on ACT, it is pretty much guaranteed).
So, a Valedictorian student with 34 ACT and 3.7 GPA who is planning to major in engineering will be eligible for $18,000 + $3,000 (engineering) + $1,500 (valedictorian) + 1 year of room + $3,000 for study abroad. With those scholarships, he will pay approximately $4,500 for the first year and $9,500 for next three years.
If you score above 35, you might be eligible to receive a scholarship for all four years of room costs although this is not guaranteed. The best way to find out is to apply to Mississippi State University!
