Dalhousie University Scholarships 2018
Dalhousie University is located in Nova Scotia, Canada and is now offering Dalhousie University Scholarships to international students. This university was founded as a nonsectarian college in 1818. The founder of Dalhousie is George Ramsay, Eponymous Lieutenant Governor of Nova Scotia, 9th Earl of Dalhousie. Although it was founded in 1818, it took a long time for them to get students to enroll. The first class was enrolled in 1838 which is twenty years after its establishment. The university also had a turbulent time after its first class. In 1863, It reopened for a third time following a restructuring. In 1997, the university formally switched its name to “Dalhousie University” from a previous name.
Students in Dalhousie University have many options to choose from. The university awards more than 4,000 courses as well as 180 degrees. Because of the wide variety of courses offered, students can basically study whatever their heart desire to study. These courses are offered in many different campuses as well. Some students might think that they won’t be able to study in such a comprehensive university, but in reality, they can be getting Dalhousie University scholarships.
Dalhousie University has three campuses in Halifax that are walking distance from each other. The biggest is the Studley Campus, which is the main campus for students who are preparing to take undergraduate degrees in the Sciences, Law, Social Sciences, Engineering and the Arts. The two other campuses offer other courses to students as well.
As stated before, these campuses are located in the city of Halifax. The urban area of Halifax is an established city bordering on Halifax Harbour with a population nearing 300,000. Also, Halifax’s climate is massively affected by its location on Nova, Scotia’s Atlantic coast. The weather usually is milder or colder than that of middle Canada. The temperature remains between about -15°C and 35°C inland but the coast can be milder in the winter and colder in the summer by the maritime influence.
If you decide to study here by receiving Dalhousie University scholarships, it gives students two options for their accommodation. First, students can reside in the Traditional residence, which is a dormitory-style building that offers double and single rooms. The second option would be the apartments. There are many apartments in the campuses such as the Shirreff Hall, Gerard Hall, Howe Hall, Eliza Ritchie Hall, Risley Hall, O’Brien Hall and the Mini Residences.
The difference between the apartments and the traditional dormitory is the meal plan. The traditional dormitories do offer meal plans to their students, but the apartments do not. Also, the apartments offer more privacy for students while the traditional dormitories do not.
