University of Southern California Scholarships 2018
The University of Southern California was founded in 1880, making it the oldest research university in California. Ozro Childs, John Gately Downey, and Isaias W. Hellman donated 308 plots of land in Los Angeles for the campus. Originally the school partnered with the Methodist Church, although this is no longer true today. The campus spans 308 acres. University of Southern California scholarships are being offered to international students as well as domestic students.
USC has just over 40,000 students in attendance. About 18,000 of which are undergraduates, and 23,000 are graduate students. Nearly 11,000 students – 15% of the student body – are from other parts of the globe. The largest population of international students come from China, India and South Korea. There are just under 4,000 professors, compared to the 13,000 administrative staff.
The Los Angeles campus is home to the USC Medical Center, Leavey Library, Zilkha Neurogenetic Institute and the Galen Center. Between them, they have over 100 disciplines and many offer non-traditional multidisciplinary options.
USC’s Endowment, which totals nearly $6 billion, is used to fund research projects, grants, expansions, international and domestic activities, and scholarships to the University. The college has a board to oversee the expenses of the school, which usually only amount to $4 billion. These funds also help to award University of Southern California scholarships to international students.
Graduates of the University have a successful combined legacy, with marked careers in film and television, performing arts, athletics, politics and many other fields. Alumni have received 5 total Nobel Prizes. USC, an accredited and well-funded research college, has provided many graduates with a fair chance to succeed in their chosen fields.
