The University of California, Irvine is a research university located in Irvine, Orange County, CA. It was established in 1965 under the California Master Plan for Higher Education. The site was chosen due to the sheer amount of veterans joining colleges. The Irvine Company sold 1,000 acres of land to the University of California for the school. Today, the school campus is just over 1,500 acres. Now, international students can receive UC Irvine scholarships!

UCI has just under 36,000 students. 29,000 students are undergraduates. The college only has 2,600 academic staff. There are approximately 6,000 international students currently attending UC Irvine. Most of the international student body comes from China, S. Korea, and Taiwan.

There are over 150 majors for undergraduate and graduate students. On campus, there is the school of Medicine, Art, Engineering, Law, Biological Sciences, Business, Nursing, Education, Music, Social Ecology, Computer Sciences, Physical Sciences, and Social Sciences. UCI has activities and recreation for students, faculty and the general population in all areas, like the rock climbing wall and boating sports. The college offers many workshops and team sports in addition to the large list of extracurriculars. Major events are managed by faculty and student advisors. Some of these events include Welcome Week and Shocktoberfest.

UC Irvine Foundation’s Endowment assets total $500 million. These funds are mostly used to power scholarships, events on campus, housing and international programs.

UCI is a successful university with many awards and sports championships. The University’s 120,000+ Alumni have also been successful with careers on Broadway, in film, throughout education and sciences, and more. 34 Olympians graduated from UCI, along with a Nobel Prize Laureate. The University of California, Irvine, provides for it graduates with a cutting-edge education and innumerable opportunities throughout the school.

There are many graduate international students who are studying at UC Irvine. Many of these students receive fully funded scholarships, especially if the student is pursuing his PhD Degree.
