University of Reading Scholarships 2019
The University of Reading has been a well-respected and prestigious school in the United Kingdom ever since it was founded as a satellite college of Christ Church in Oxford. Located in Berkshire, it is a public university that has been awarded the prestigious Queen’s Anniversary Prize four times. UR is referred to as a “red brick university” due to its beautiful 19th-century architecture. There are many international students that are receiving University of Reading scholarships, and you can receive one too!
The University of Reading is a total population of about 15,000 students. That figure consists of 10,000 undergraduates and 5,000 graduate students. There are roughly 2,000 administrative staff who are carefully selected, and the student-faculty ratio is about 8:1. There are over 65 different departments offered, including Archaeology, Careers Management Skills, Construction Management and Engineering, and Art.
The departments are further split into three faculties – Faculty of Science, Humanities, Arts & Social Sciences, and the Henley Business School. Henley only admits about 1% of applicants and is known as being one of the best business schools in the world. UB has four different campus locations, with the main one being at Whiteknights. The others are London Road, Greenlands, and there is one Asian campus in Malaysia.
The endowment of Reading is an impressive £14.0 million, a high figure for schools in the United Kingdom. The Research Excellence Framework classified about 98% of UR’s research as “internationally excellent”, and an additional 27% as “world-leading”. Annually, the school dedicates about £35.4 million in research throughout their various institutions. The University of Reading scholarships are funded partially through these huge research grants to attract international students.
Alumni have had no trouble finding success after graduation. The historic school has prepared students well, one of the reasons it is seen so prestigiously. The University of Reading boasts alumni and accomplished figures such as famous botanist LJF Brimble, comedian Julian Barratt, Hammerson chief executive David Atkins, and Gavin Grant (chief executive of the Royal Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals).
