First founded with a royal charter in 1966, the University of Bath has always been a top-ranked school in the United Kingdom. International students can receive University of Bath scholarships to help them study in this prestigious institution. Located in Somerset, it is a member of many prestigious groups such as the European Quality Improvement System, GW4, and the Association of Commonwealth Universities. Since 2016, THE World University Ranks have seen UB in the top 300 every single year. The Guardian has ranked the school 5th nationally in the UK, and many publications have them ranked as high or higher.
The University of Bath is a relatively small university, with only about 16,000 students. That figure consists of 12,000 undergraduates and 4,000 graduate students. Every single teacher is carefully selected, and the academic staff has been nationally recognized for their dedication to education. There are 18 different departments offered, and they include Electronic & Electrical Engineering, Economics, Pharmacy & Pharmacology.
The departments are further split into four faculties – Faculty of Engineering & Design, Humanities & Social Sciences, Management, and Science. UB has one main campus location, about 1.5 miles from the center of the city of Bath itself. The only other location of the school was the Oakfield Campus in Swindon, but this recently closed down.
The endowment of Bath is an impressive £6.0 million, a respectable figure for schools in England. The University of Bath scholarships come from this endowment and also from other sources as well. As a research university, UB received a research activity classification of 4, the highest possible ranking from the Research Excellence Framework. Annually, the school dedicates about £35.1 million in research throughout their various institutions and was ranked 12th in the UK for its quality of research.
Alumni have had no trouble finding success after graduation. Teachers have prepared students well, and the list of accomplished graduates is extensive. The University of Bath boasts alumni Ash Atalla (television producer), British diplomat Peter Butcher, and Sainsbury’s former CEO Justin King.
