During this time, for Master’s research programs, the university averaged about 5000 applications per year, with an average acceptance rate of about 42 percent. The acceptance rate jumps to nearly 59 percent when also including professional master’s programs, indicating that the research programs are more selective and harder to get into.

Doctoral programs are much harder to get into at the University of Minnesota-Twin Cities with an acceptance rate of 25.5 percent, perhaps in part because the number of applicants is greater too.
