The University of Regina is a publicly funded, research and comprehensive university. It is located in Regina, in the state of Saskatchewan, Canada. The non-denominational institution came into existence 1911, as a response to the University of Saskatchewan being given to the state of Saskatoon. Regina College integrated into the University of Regina in 1934. However, the university existed largely in affiliation to other colleges and universities, such as Regina College and the University of Saskatchewan. It became an independent entity in July 1974. We will be discussing the acceptance rate at the University of Regina in this article.

Currently, the university has 10 faculties and offers 200 academic programs for undergraduate and graduate students. The faculties comprise of the departments of arts, business administration, education, engineering, media, graduate studies, health studies, nursing, science and social work. The university’s Masters program is in conjunction with the University of Saskatchewan.

The university is considered a mid-sized university, spread across an area of 239 acres. To study at this university, you can apply and get accepted easily since the acceptance rate at the University of Regina is so high. There are five residential colleges associated with the institution, with their rooms occupied by 1200 students at the moment. The current student body comprises of over 15,000 students. Out of these, 13,000 students are enrolled in undergraduate programs, while the rest are pursuing graduate and postgraduate degrees. The strength of the academic staff is almost 530, and the administrative staff comprises of over 1500 individuals. The institution also has 3 federated colleges, as well as 2 “affiliated” colleges and 2 “associated” colleges. This entails that the University of Regina shares resources, educational programs, and collaborations with these institutions.

The university is also associated with 18 research centers. It has been successful in securing funds for research in a variety of disciplines, including language studies, law, and medicine. However, the University of Regina is largely recognized for its experiential learning. A large number of its students, with the assistance of the university, are able to secure internships, cooperative education placements and professional placements at reputable organizations. The university also actively works for the rights of Aboriginals, providing services to remote communities. Aboriginal adults are part of the campus, providing social support to others from their community. Moreover, a separate Aboriginal Career Centre was established to promote and enable the community in pursuing fulfilling careers.

Internationally, the University of Regina falls under the top 5% universities in the world. Currently, Times and ARWU rank it between 601-800. US News ranks it at 961. Within Canada, the university has been ranked by ARWU and Times as between 21-26. US News ranks it as the 28th best university in Canada. Maclean’s graduate survey for Comprehensive Universities places it at the 14th spot, and at the 41st spot for reputation within Canada.

Admissions at the University of Regina are not competitive. The current reported acceptance rate at the University of Regina is around 85%. This means that out of 100 applicants that apply for a degree at the institution, at85 applicants will be successful in securing admission.
