Nestled in the city of Kalamazoo, Western Michigan University is a coed public academic institution. The 1,200-acre campus offers at least 140 undergraduate programs and numerous master’s degrees in the fields of business, engineering, education, applied sciences, human development, and health. It boasts of training programs for speech-language pathologists, rehabilitation counselors, physician assistants, and audiologists. In this article, we will be looking at the acceptance rate at Western Michigan University.

The university belongs to the Top 10% in the USA and to the Top 10 producers of Fulbright Scholars.  Moreover, the campus is caring and friendly, with its students always ready to help. Mentoring is a common activity among students so they become encouraged to learn and reach their goals.

WMU challenges and supports every student in whatever career path or option that the student decided to explore. As a unique program, the WMU Signature helps students become more marketable to employers and graduate schools. The unique program complements the student’s chosen major.

At least 9 out of 10 graduates had at least one activity for experiential learning like practicum, leadership, co-op, internships, research, or field experience. The university provides a venue for the students to apply what they learned from the classroom to the real world. Students of the university can join at least 300 student organizations, about 30 fraternities and sororities, and sports teams. Athletic undergraduates can join the various WMU Broncos sports teams that compete in the NCAA Division I Mid-American Conference.

Everyone will enjoy the campus programs that WMU offers to engage students. The university lines up various opportunities and events that help students connect with fellow students and the community. For instance, the annual Bronco Bash welcomes students each fall with at least 450 booths to sign-up volunteers, market services, and share information. Even community organizations and local businesses join the annual festival.

It even has a Campus Activities Board that brings entertainment by hosting weekly events that include comedians, magicians, concerts, movies, and other special events. Moreover, to complete the students’ educational experience, the university has an interfaith facility known as the Kanley Memorial Chapel.

Dwight B. Waldo founded the school in 1903. Tim Allen, the “Home Improvement” TV program star and Buzz Lightyear voice in the “Toy Story” movies, is its most prominent alumni.

Acceptance Rate at the Western Michigan University

In the latest admission cycle, the Western Michigan University acceptance rate is 82%, and it’s mildly competitive.  Western Michigan University accepted 11,200 students out of 13,600 applicants. For the admitted students, the average GPA was 3.4 while the average SAT and ACT scores were 1100 and 24, respectively.

Applicants with a GPA slightly below the average can still get into WMU if they get a high score on the entrance test. Conversely, the university can also accept students who didn’t do well in the exam if they have a high GPA.
