Wichita State University is a public research institute in Wichita in the state of Kansas, USA. The university is supervised and coordinated by the Kansas Board of Regents, an organization that governs six state universities of Kansas. Wichita State University was established in 1895. At its opening, it was a women-only college and was referred to as “Young Ladies College”. In 1964, the institute was given its current name. The college offers more than 60 undergraduate and 44 graduate programs to a student body of approximately 10,000. In this article, we will be looking at the acceptance rate at Wichita State University.

Besides the main campus, Wichita State University also has three other campuses- WSU South campus located in Derby, Kansas, WSU West campus located in Maize, Kansas, and WSU Campus of Applied Sciences and Technology situated on Webb Road, Kansas. The academic system of the main campus consists of nine schools that cover the fields of Applied sciences, Engineering, Fine Arts, Health Professions, Management Sciences, Liberal Arts, Interdisciplinary Creativity, and Business. According to US News and World Report, the university ranks among the top 50 higher educational institutes in the United States.

The library network of WSU contains four libraries; Albah Library, McKinley Library, Thurlow music Library, and Special Collection Library. Collectively, these libraries have more than 2 million volumes, about 1000 e-books, and several magazines and journals.

WSU athletic program is one of the state’s best with participation in the NCAA Division 1 tournament throughout the calendar. The athletic teams are called Wichita State Shockers. The university features a 24,000 capacity football stadium called Cessna Stadium that serves as the home ground to Shockers. WSU is also a member of the American Athletic Conference, a consortium of 12 universities in the US leading in sports.

The campus spans on a land of 330 acres with various state-of-the-art facilities for students to have the best experience of life. Freshmen students are provided residence in Shocker Residence Hall while the upperclassmen students reside mostly in the on-campus flats. In 2019, WSU also started another residence facility in the form of furnished suites where both freshmen and upperclassmen can apply for residence. WSU has excellent dining facilities for students. Rhatigan Food Court and Shocker Dining Hall are the most popular among students.

The Student Government Association at WSU makes sure that all the students are being provided with necessities of life. Similarly, various inter and intra-university events are also organized by student bodies. Currently, there are more than 400 independent fraternities and sororities in college.

Acceptance Rate at Wichita State University

The admission difficulty at Wichita State University is minimal. The acceptance rate at university in 2018 was about 97 percent making it a barely selective school. About 5500 students applied for admission in the class of 2022. Out of those applicants, more than 5300 were accepted by the college. You even do not require providing your SAT score. The ACT score requirements are also very minimal. Any score above 20 (on a scale of 36) will be enough for securing admission. Although, keep in mind that you have to pay an application fee of $30 to apply.
