Spread over 400 acres in the beautiful city of Corvallis, Oregon State University (OSU) is home to 30,000 undergraduate and graduate students. The university was founded in 1856 as a community school and attained the status of a college in 1858.  Now, it is a fully functional university with over 11 colleges. These colleges and departments offer more than 200 undergraduate programs in various disciplines such as accounting, business, engineering, robotics, healthcare, science, and liberal arts. The university also has a graduate school which offers over 100 graduate programs. Oregon State University Scholarships (Undergraduate)

1. OIS Scholarship

OIS scholarship is available for the undergraduate students at OSU who are in need of financial aid to continue their education at OSU. The students should have completed three semesters at OSU and have a minimum GPA of 2.5. The scholarship amount offered varies from $1000 to $3000.

 

2. OSU Provost Scholarship for Excellence

All the international undergraduate students who get admission at OSU are considered eligible for this Oregon State University scholarship. The scholarship is available for both new and transfer students. Only 30 to 35 students are selected for this scholarship every year. The selection is based on the academic record of the incoming students. The qualified students are offered an annual stipend of $6,000. This scholarship is renewable for the next 4 year.

The students don’t need to submit an application for this scholarship. The eligible students are automatically considered and informed after selection.

 

3. IB or A Level Scholarship

This scholarship is for the new incoming international students who have completed full International Baccalaureate (IB) diploma or three A Level subjects. Students who receive this merit-based scholarship at Oregon State University receive an annual scholarship of $6,000. This scholarship is also renewable for the next four years.

As with the Provost scholarship, the students don’t need to submit a special application. The qualified students are in consideration and only the selected students are informed by the university.

 

4. OSU International Continuation Scholarship

OSU provides this scholarship to the international students who are in need of some financial aid to meet their expenses. The student must have completed at least one year in his current program at the OSU to be considered eligible. A minimum GPA of 2.5 is also a must. The selected students are given an annual amount of $5,000. Students who are at the end of completing their degrees are preferred for this program. If a student is receiving any other international scholarship, he is not eligible for this program.

 

5. Ali and Shahina Piyarali International Program

The international students with a minimum GPA of 3.3 and in financial need can get a scholarship at Oregon State University of $500 to $1000 per year in this program. The online application form is available to apply at the OSU website.

Oregon State University Scholarships (Graduate)

1. Graduate Assistantship and Fellowship Program

Probably the best way to fund your education at graduate school is graduate assistantship and graduate fellowship programs. In these programs, the international graduate students not only get experience of teaching, management and research but also receive a number of awards and scholarships to fund their tuition and research expenses. The international students compete with the US students at the same level for these programs at the same level and there is no discrimination. These fellowship and assistantship programs not only provide funds to the students, but also offer them a great opportunity for their professional and academic development.

Two types of assistantships are offered to the full-time graduate students at OSU.

Research assistantship in which the student works as an assistant for some faculty research project. The fund provided for the research also pays for the assistantship.

Teaching assistantship in which the job is to deliver lectures and teach some courses to the undergraduate students as well as assist the senior faculty members to manage and deliver their lectures.

Both type of assistantships provide great exposure and experience to the students along with considerable amount of money to fund their education.

 

2. OSU Opportunity Scholarships

In this program, graduate students from different countries are offered Oregon State University scholarships by Benton Community Foundation.

These include:

  1. Joel R. Friend Scholarship: for students from Taiwan and Thailand
  2. Lucy Hsu Ho Scholarship: for students from China
  3. Hugh and Helen Wood Nepalese Scholarship: for students from Nepal

 

3. Oregon State University Departmental Scholarships

College of Forestry and College of Public health and Humanities offer scholarships to their graduate students. The terms of these scholarships and their amount are decided by the college themselves.

 

4. OSU International Continuation Scholarships

Along with undergraduate students, this scholarship is also available for graduate students. The terms and amount of scholarship are the same as for undergraduate students.

 

5. Ali and Shahina Piyarali International Program

This scholarship is also available for graduate students with same terms as for undergraduate students.
