With a large and purpose-built main campus spread over more than 1,900 acres, the University of South Florida (also known as USF) is located in the city of Tampa, Florida. The university was founded in 1956 and the classes began in 1960. The university has 14 colleges that offer more than 80 undergraduate programs and around 130 graduate and doctoral level degree programs. The university is ranked No. 7 among the public universities in US Patent Ranking. The USF has more than 47,000 enrolled students with around 36,000 undergraduate and 10,000 graduate students. University of South Florida Undergraduate Scholarships
1. USF Green and Gold Presidential Award
It is a merit based scholarship provided to the international undergraduate students at the University of South Florida. This award is only for the undergraduate first year students. Only a limited number of students are selected for this award. The student must have a GPA of 4.0 and 1300+ score in SAT to get this award. An annual stipend of almost $12,000 is given to the selected students. The scholarship is renewable for four years.
2. USF Green and Gold Directors Award
This University of South Florida scholarship is also merit based given to the international students who enroll in one of the undergraduate programs at USF. Only first year undergraduate students are eligible. In this award, an annual stipend of $8,000 per year is given to the selected students for their four years stay at the university. The students must have a minimum GPA of 3.8 or above and 1210+ score in SAT to qualify for this award.
3. USF Green and Gold Scholars award
This award is given to the international undergraduate students of USF on the basis of their academic performance. The students must have a minimum GPA of 3.6 or above and 1130+ SAT score to be considered eligible for this award. The total scholarship amount is $16,000 given to the selected students in 4 annual installments. Only first year students can apply.
Note: The USF Green and Gold awards are not additive, and a student can get only one of these awards during his stay at the university.
4. USF International Student Scholarship
This scholarship is another merit based award the University of South Florida offers to its international undergraduate students. The student must be enrolled in the first semester. Only students with a minimum GPA of 3.5 or above and 1050+ SAT score are considered eligible for this scholarship. The selected students are given an annual stipend of $500 by USF. The scholarship is also renewable for the next four years.
5. USF International Student Scholarship (Transfer Students)
University of South Florida scholarship is a merit based scholarship for the international transfer students at USF. The students must have a minimum CGPA of 3.5 or above to be considered eligible for this scholarship. The total scholarship amount is $1,000 which is paid to the qualified students in two annual installments.
6. INTO USF Scholarships
These scholarships are provided to the international students who get selected to join one of the INTO University of South Florida pathways. The scholarship amount is variable and depends on the program. Currently, there are two INTO USF pathways:
INTO USF Standard Pathways: Students get an annual scholarship between $1000 to $6000 for pathway tuition
INTO USF Accelerated Pathways: Students get an annual scholarship between $500 to $4000 for pathway tuition
The student must submit an application to join an INTO pathway. After successful qualification, the students will get the above mentioned scholarships depending upon their pathway.
University of South Florida Graduate Scholarships
1. INTO USF Scholarships
These University of South Florida scholarships are also available for the international graduate students at the University of South Florida. The students must have an INTO USF Graduate Pathway offer letter to avail these scholarships. They are provided through INTO regional representatives from various countries of the world.
Like undergraduate students, are two INTO USF pathways for graduate students:
INTO USF Standard Pathways: Students who get admission through this pathway are given an annual scholarship between $1,000 to $5,000 to pay their tuition fee.
INTO USF Accelerated Pathways: In these pathways, students are given an annual scholarship between $500 to $2,500 to pay their tuition fee.
The terms and conditions for graduate level INTO USF Pathways are the same as that of undergraduate level pathways.
2. Graduate Assistantship
If you are a graduate student, the best way to fund your tuition fee is to be a graduate assistant. The University of South Florida offers a large number of graduate assistantships to its graduate students every year. Currently, the university has more than 2,000 graduate assistants. USF offers three types of graduate assistantships:
- Teaching Assistant (TA): The job of a TA is to conduct classes, labs, deliver lectures etc.
- Research Assistant (RA): A graduate assistant working as RA has the responsibility of participating in a research project.
- Instructional Assistant (IA): He has to participate in admin affairs of the university.
