Studying outside your native home comes with a lot of fun and lets you experience a new world of cultures. Ukraine is no different as it offers nearly everything that an international student would ask for. First, you don’t need to worry much about learning the local language since most courses are taught in English, French, Russian, and other popular languages. It would, however, be wise to study a little Ukrainian to help you interact with the locals and classmates.

Universities in Ukraine are moderately selective, but it depends on the institution to which you send your applications. As such, it is important to do thorough research before deciding on your final choice. We have compiled this article to help make your decisions a lot easier. Here are the Ukrainian universities with the highest acceptance rates.

Universities in Ukraine with High Rates of Acceptance

1. Bukovinian State Medical University

Bukovinian State Medical University, or BSMU, is a modern multi-profile university with one of the largest student bodies in Chernivtsi. Established in 1944, it began as Chernivtsi Medical Institute before changing its name to Bukovinian State Medical Academy in 1997. It was later renamed to Bukovinian State Medical University after being a fully-fledged university in 2005. It has a sizeable student body enrolled in various degree programs with nearly a third being international students. Most international students accepted at the institution come from Ethiopia, Somalia, Nigeria, India, Sudan, and the United States.

2. Sumy State University

The next university in Ukraine with a high acceptance rate is Sumy State University, which was founded in 1993 as a non-profit public institution. Its Main Campus is located in Sumy Oblast and has branches in Konotop and Shostka cities. The institution offers degree programs in various fields and all of them have been accredited by the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine. 3. Odessa National University

Abbreviated as ONU, Odessa National University was founded in 1865. As one of the best higher education institutions in Ukraine has attracted students from all over the world. It currently has a population of over 7,500 students enrolled in 10 faculties specialized in various fields of study. ONU also has five scientific institutes and 15 research laboratories. It’s also worth noting that the university has a stadium hosting all sorts of games. After classes, you can also relax your mind at the students’ rest base while enjoying picturesque views.

4. KROK University

This for-profit university was founded in 1992 in Kyiv, Oblast. KROK University is one of the smallest in the country posting a small student body. About a quarter of these students are admitted from over 41 countries worldwide. For the last seven years, it has been voted among the best private universities in Ukraine and in the top 50 in overall rankings. This is no surprise considering that 70% of its 340 academic staff are Ph.D. holders.

5. National Aviation University

Based in Kyiv, the history of National Aviation University dates back to 1933. As the name suggests, its primary purpose was to train experts in civil aviation. It has, however, diversified its curriculum over the years to cover the fields of medicine and arts. NAU is divided into two faculties, 16 institutes, and 12 research centers. This Ukrainian university with high acceptance rates also has its own Aviation Academy which trains students from over 90 countries across the globe. In addition, the university offers recognized degrees in mechanical, electrical, and electronics engineering.

6. O.O. Bogomolets National Medical University

Funded in 1841, O.O. Bogomolets National Medical University is located in Kyiv Oblast. Over its 178 years of existence, it has grown from a local institution to an internationally recognized university enrolling students from over 56 countries. With over 1,200 academic staff at its disposal, the ratio of students to faculty members is about 9:1.

7. Donetsk National Technical University

Founded in 1924, Donetsk National Technical University’s Main Campus is located in Pokrovsk, Donetsk Oblast. It also has satellite campuses in Krasnoarmeisk. DNTU has one of the largest student bodies in the country with thousands of domestic and international students enrolled in various degree programs. A 60% acceptance rate means DNTU’s admission process is not very competitive because the university has one of the highest acceptance rates in Ukraine.

8. Lutsk National Technical University

With just over 50 years in operation, Lutsk National Technical University is already one of the best technical institutions in Ukraine. After its establishment in 1966, Lutsk NTU enrolled only 105 students for its first-ever class. Some of the first programs to be accredited at the university include the Technology of Mechanical Engineering, Industrial and Civil Engineering, and Metal Cutting Machines & Tools. Currently, it is divided into seven faculties and 30 departments. At a high acceptance rate of about 70-79%, you can expect a not very competitive admission process.
