Are you planning to study abroad to pursue higher education? Then you should consider studying in Japan as the country is one of the new popular educational destinations for international students. With an aging population, the Japanese government is keen on attracting international students to the country. The government has launched study programs to boost the number of international students in the country to 300,000.

However, one major throwback is that foreign learners believe that the language barrier could be their first obstacle if they choose to study in Japan. While it is true that the medium of instruction for most Japanese universities is mainly in Japanese, there are several English-taught courses and degree studies offered to domestic and international students.

You can apply to these courses by submitting proof of English proficiency along with the required documents. In Japan, IELTS is one of the widely accepted English language competency exams. If you are searching for Japanese universities accepting these scores, here’s a list of schools that you can consider.

Do Universities in Japan Consider Students Who Have Not Passed the IELTS Exam?

In Japan, IELTS is getting more and more popular; in the previous five years, the number of applicants taking the exam has tripled. The fact that IELTS is accepted by Japanese educational institutions as a trustworthy indicator of English language ability is the reason for its popularity.

Prospective students will have the chance to be accepted for an English-taught program if they are able to present the required minimum score. You will not get admitted if you provide a score lower than what is required. It is advisable for international students who did not pass the IELTS exam to study more diligently and retake the test.

On the other hand, if you happen to be a native English speaker or come from an English-speaking nation, you are exempt from submitting an IELTS score result. You just need to submit proof like a passport or school diploma along with the other general documents.
