With an overall score of 6 in the IELTS, you can get into most universities in Germany. If you really want to aim high up the ranking list, you need to get a score of 7 or higher in IELTS to apply to the top German universities. Please keep in mind that several universities in German teach courses entirely in German, so you might need to prove your German proficiency as well as your English proficiency during the application process.
What is the Minimum IELTS Requirement for a German University?
The lowest passing score that you can get in IELTS is 4.5 on the overall examination. The great thing is, this German university requires that you acquire IELTS Band of 6.
6. Leibniz University Hannover
First established as a trade school in Hannover, Leibniz University has branched out its courses by adopting curriculums for natural sciences, engineering, humanities, social sciences, and even law & economics. To get back to the topic, the English proficiency requirement for the University of Konstanz is lower than expected. If you want to pass with the lowest score, you can get by with an overall score of 5.5 in the IELTS. However, I don’t recommend aiming for the lowest score since you might get a lower score than you might expect.
8. University of Leipzig
Founded nearly six centuries ago, the University of Leipzig is one of the oldest institutions in Germany that is filled with ancient histories. Even though it was established centuries past, Leipzig University is quite modern when it comes to architecture and its academic curriculum.
Implementing courses that challenge students and teachers alike, the University of Leipzig is one of the twelve universities that accept IELTS 6 for its English proficiency requirement. You can aim higher than 6 for your overall score, but please remember that the lowest score that Leipzig University allows is IELTS 6.0.
9. University of Giessen
Even though it is known for many as the University of Giessen, the students remember this university as JLU, which is short for Justus Liebig University.
