International Students at Yonsei
As of October 1st, 2020, about 5,043 international students are studying in both the Main Campus and MIRAE Campus. The Main Campus has 4,419 international students, comprising 2,261 degree-seeking students, 789 credit exchange students, and 1,369 in language courses. For MIRAE Campus, there are 624 international students, comprising 500 degree-seeking students, 33 credit exchange students and 91 in language courses.

Tuition Fee for International Students at Yonsei
According to the Fall 2021 Application Guide and Documents for International Students, the tuition fee for international undergraduate students is approximately KRW 6,140,000 or USD 5,400 per semester excluding the admission fee. The fee is only for the first year with the Global Basic Education Division (GBED). Upon completion of GBED in the first year, you will then be able to study your designated major and pay for the allocated fees for that major in the second year.
For graduate students, the tuition fee for international graduate students is between KRW 4,854,000 (approx. USD 4,280) and KRW 7,793,000 (approx. USD 6,870). Examples of departments with a KRW 4,854,000 tuition fee are Political Science, Public Administration, Sociology, Cultural Anthropology, Media Communication, Interdisciplinary Program Area Studies, Korean Unification Studies, Social Welfare Policy, and Law.
Examples of departments with a KRW 7,793,000 tuition fee are Medicine, Medical Sciences, Dentistry, Applied Life Science, and Speech Pathology. The fees are only for the tuition fee, excluding the entrance fee, Graduate Student Association Fee, Yonsei Health Mutual-aid Association Fee, and Yonsei Coop Investment.

Application Fee at Yonsei University
For international undergraduate students, the application fee for all majors and departments is KRW 150,000 or USD 130. The application fee is non-refundable upon completion of the online application and payment. As for international graduate students, the application fee is KRW 100,000 for all departments. An additional fee for the performance assessment for the Department of Music requires an additional fee of KRW 52,000 or USD 45. Once the application fee is paid and the documents submitted, it is non-refundable and non-returnable.
Yonsei Admissions Requirements for International Students
Before anything else, be aware of the eligibility requirements to begin your application. To qualify for an undergraduate degree, the applicant and the applicant’s parents should be non-Korean citizens and the applicant should be a high school graduate.
In addition, applicants must be able to fulfil the required documents such as a Completed Application Form, Personal Statement, Recommendation Letter (in Korean or English), High School Diploma or Certificate of (Expected) Graduation, Official Yearly Transcripts of All Attended High Schools, 会考或高考 Transcript for those graduating from high schools in China, Certificate of Registration for Elementary, Middle and High School, Certificate proving Korean Language Proficiency, The applicant and the applicant’s parents’ Identification Documents, Academic History Record Sheet, Letter of Consent and Letter of Request, and other Supplementary Documents.
For a master’s or doctoral degree, applicants must have completed a bachelor’s degree or master’s degree outside of Korea and be non-Korean citizens. Moreover, the documents needed to confirm eligibility are Proof of you and your parents’ nationality, Proof of graduation that covers your entire education period, Transcripts for your entire education period, and Certificate of Entry & Exit (covering the entire period). Other mandatory documents are Online Application Form, Official undergraduate degree certificate, Official Transcript (Undergraduate), Official graduate degree certificate, Official Transcript (Graduate), Study Plan, Two letters of recommendation, A copy of your passport, Proof of funds, and Language Proficiency Test Results.

The acceptance rate is not officially declared by Yonsei University. However, sources say the acceptance rate is less than 40% and acquire a minimum GPA above 2.5 out of 4.0. Despite the acceptance rate, international students have a higher chance of getting in.
Yonsei University Scholarships for International Students
1. Global Korean Scholarship (GKS)

This Yonsei University scholarship for international students covers four years of the bachelor’s degree and one year of the Korean language course. The scholarship benefits are a roundtrip economy class ticket, KRW 800,000 or USD 700 monthly allowance, health insurance and settlement allowance.
For students with TOPIK level 5 or 6, a monthly allowance of KRW 100,000 or USD 90 is also given. To qualify for the scholarship, the applicant must meet a Cumulative Grade Point Average CGPA of 80% out of 100% or higher and be in the top 20% in rank from the previous school.

Three Yonsei University scholarships are open for UIC students: Admissions Scholarship, Merit-based Scholarship, and Need-Based Scholarship. Admissions Scholarship is for newly-admitted international students to UIC where a full tuition for four years is given.
The Merit-based Scholarship is for currently-enrolled UIC students where full, half, or one-third of the tuition fee is granted. Lastly, the Need-Based Scholarship is for currently-enrolled UIC students who need financial assistance where full, half, or one-third of the tuition fee is granted.
