The tuition fee for both graduate and undergraduate students vary according to school, program, and the number of credits. The undergraduate tuition fee costs $53,300, whereas a graduate program generally amounts to $40,000. International Admissions Guide

International applicants are 24% of the freshmen students at New York University each year. Since they receive around 100,000 applications from all over the world, they have set a rigorous admission process for domestic and international students. To be eligible to apply for undergraduate programs at NYU, you must be one of the following.

  • You have completed a pre-university education (equivalent to US 12th Grade)
  • You are completing an International Baccalaureate Diploma or internationally-recognized equivalent.
  • You are from countries with British educational model school-leaving qualifications and will have completed the A-level equivalent.
  • You are currently taking a foundation year program at a non-US school.
  • You have already earned a certificate or diploma.

Suppose one of the eligibility criteria applies to you; you can start your application through the Common Application online portal and then prepare all your requirements, which can be submitted to the online portal or mailed to NYU’s Office of Undergraduate Admissions. You can submit your documents for an early (November 1 and January 1) or regular decision (January 5), depending on when you’d like to receive notification regarding your application. The Office of Undergraduate Admissions highly advises that you do so a month before the deadline.

For graduate programs, the admission process and deadlines vary for each school, center, or institute. It is best to go directly to the faculty’s website where your program is under for detailed information; you can also reach out directly to the admission counselors if you have any questions.

Application Fee

To complete your application, you must pay a non-refundable application fee of $80. If you cannot pay the fee, you can request a fee waiver directly from the Common Application portal.

The following are the admission requirements for undergraduate programs at the New York University; however, do note that additional documents may be needed depending on the program.

Undergraduate Scholarships

1. Merit-Based Scholarships

All incoming and currently enrolled students are eligible for the merit-based scholarships at New York University. Candidates are chosen based on their CSS profile which should be filled-up during the application for admission. Individual schools in NYU offer different kinds of scholarships. For instance, NYU Wagner has the Dean (full) and Public Service (partial) merit-based scholarships available to its students from all programs and countries of origin.

2. AnBryce Scholarships

AnBryce scholarship is available for all incoming NYU students who have a solid academic background but lacks financial support and the first in their family to attend college. Once you get this New York University scholarship, you must be active in different program activities and maintain a GPA of 3.5 and above. AnBryce scholarship is renewable for up to four years.

Graduate Scholarships

1. Graduate Assistantships

Graduate Assistantship is one form of New York University scholarship for international graduate students. You can apply for graduate assistantships at New York University to reduce the cost of your tuition and receive stipends. Graduate assistants teach, research, and engage in departmental activities. However, you may not be eligible to apply for some scholarships once you become part of any teaching or research assistantships. It may be best to contact the Office of Financial Aid to discuss which financial plan is best suited for you.

2. Wasserman Center Internship Grant

As long as you a student in any program at NYU, you can apply to the Wasserman Center Internship Grant, which provides a thousand dollar aid while you are on your unpaid internship. This New York University scholarship is applicable to fall (August-November), spring (December-April), and summer(May-June) semesters. It is open for all students who will have their internship; however, only those with F-1 or J-1 status can apply for international students.
