Tuition Fee for International Students

Application Fee

International undergraduate applicants are required to pay a non-refundable application fee of $80, whereas International graduate applicants have different fees per graduate school. For instance, the Graduate School of Arts and Sciences requires an application fee of $75 and Heller School for Social Policy and Management requires an application fee of $55. Application fees can be waived as long as you are eligible for a fee waiver.

Admissions Requirements for International Students

All incoming international freshmen should follow the same application process and requirements as first-year applicants. You need to submit a completed Common Application form, official copies of high school transcripts, a copy of grades or scores from national exams, a school report, a letter of recommendation, standardized test scores, a mid-year report (if currently studying), and a completed Early Decision Agreement Form (if applying for Early Decision I or Early Decision II). As additional requirements for international applicants, you need to present an English proficiency test such as TOEFL, IELTS, and Duolingo English Test, as well as financial documents including the certification of finances.

If you are an international graduate applicant, visit your chosen program’s website and follow their respective guidelines on admission requirements. Graduate students are generally asked for the same requirements such as a completed online application, transcripts, letters of recommendation, curriculum vitae (CV), statement of purpose, portfolio or sample work (if needed), and other program-specific requirements. Moreover, international students are commonly asked for an English language proficiency test such as TOEFL iBT, IELTS, PTE Academic or Duolingo English Test.

In 2021 rankings, Brandeis University is ranked 201–250th in the World University Rankings and 114th in the US College Rankings.

Acceptance Rate

Based on their website, Brandeis University has a selective acceptance rate of 30% where most of the students have an SAT middle 50% of 1380-1490 (combined).

Undergraduate Scholarships

1. Brandeis-Sponsored Merit Scholarships

Only exceptional undergraduate students are granted any of the Brandeis-Sponsored Merit Scholarships including Presidential, Dean, Justice Brandeis or Trustee Scholarships. Applicants do not need to apply for this Brandeis University scholarship as this is automatically processed in your application. You can be offered a scholarship amount from $10,500 to $20,500 per academic year. Once the amount is determined, it will be the same scholarship amount for the next coming years.

2. Malkin Israeli Endowed Scholarship

  • Scholarship Amount: full tuition and fees, room and board, other miscellaneous expenses.

The Malkin Israeli Endowed Scholarship is given to one to two Israeli first-year students. They will be awarded a full-tuition scholarship at Brandeis, fees for on-campus room and board, school supplies, a yearly round-trip ticket from Israel to the United States, and other personal expenses.

Graduate Scholarships

1. Reaching Out LGBTQ MBA Fellowships

The Heller School for Social Policy and Management graduate school is partnered with Reaching Out LGBTQ MBA to allow a $20,000 scholarship to all full-time first-year MBA applicants. If you wish to apply for this Brandeis University scholarship, you need to apply to the Social Impact MBS program and submit a supplemental essay stating your LGBTQ contributions.

2. Assistantships

International students at the Graduate School of Arts and Sciences allows you to participate in research and course assistantships. You need to refer to your program department for available assistantships. If you are considered an assistantship, you are given a biweekly stipend check.
