1. Yangon University

The University of Yangon, also known as Yangon University, is the oldest and the best university in Myanmar. It was founded in 1878 in the region of the same name and was originally built by the British colonial administration as Rangoon College. Through the years, the university developed and modeled itself after the universities of Cambridge and Oxford, and has since been the center of higher education in the country. MIIT sits on a 7-acre campus in Mandalay where it operates classrooms, laboratories, an auditorium, recreational areas, and residential facilities for students and staff. From there, the university offers excellent degree programs in electronics and communications engineering and computer science and engineering. These are modeled after the successful programs of the International Institute of Information Technology, Bangalore, India.

5. West Yangon Technological University

Another public technology university is the West Yangon Technological University, a top university in Myanmar for international students. It is the second campus of Yangon Technological University, located ten kilometers from downtown Yangon. It is independent of its teaching and research, as well, and is known nationwide for its own outstanding academic achievements. The degrees offered by West Yangon Technological University include Bachelor of Technology, and Bachelor and Master of Engineering as well as Architecture.
