Located in Muncie, Indiana, Ball State University (BSU) was acquired by the Ball brothers in 1917 and started its operations in 1918. During its first academic year, the institution had only 235 students enrolled in the available programs. It has since grown both in terms of size and academic quality. Its reputation speaks volumes, and that is what has attracted students from all over the world. At the moment, the total enrollment at Ball State is about 21,900 with about 17,000 of them being undergraduates. More than 83% of the students hail from Indiana, which shows that BSU’s admission process favors in-state students. The rest of them are admitted from other states and the rest of the world. Ball State also offers distance learning and the current students enrolled in the program. Ethnic diversity at Ball State is quite moderate due to its admission policy. The ratio of students to available faculty members is 14:1. At least 80% of the lecturers work on a full-time basis. However, the school has a relatively low graduation rate at only 45%. This means that you will have almost half a chance of completing and graduating within the stipulated time.

Ball State University has seven colleges designed to offer different degree programs. In total, there are 117 undergraduate degrees in 29 fields of study ( 85 majors). The most popular program offered by Ball State is Liberal Arts followed closely by Radio, Television & Digital Communication. The latter is also the highest performing and best-ranked course within its category.

Apart from research and teaching, BSU is also an active participant in athletic games. The school’s athletic team, also known as the Ball State Cardinals. The team plays in the first division of the NCAA. If you are not into athletics, there are more than 400 clubs and organizations designed by the students for the students. Also, at least 15% of the students are members of the 37 sororities available at the school.

Acceptance Rate at Ball State University

Ball State University has an acceptance rate of more than 62% based on admissions within the last five years. As such, you will face moderate competition from other applicants who are also interested in the school. To be highly competitive during the application process, you will have to meet certain criteria.

Like most U.S-based universities, one is expected to submit either their SAT or ACT scores together with the rest of academic certificates. According to statistics, about 59% of students usually choose to submit their SAT results. On average, successful applicants had their SAT scores falling within the range of 1150 – 1310. Those who chose ACT (40%), on the other hand, were expected to score anywhere between 20-24 points. If you meet these requirements, you have high chances of being selected as one of the next BSU freshmen.
