What do you study in Russian Medical Schools?

The medical curriculum in Russia is formed in such a way that you will need six years to get MBBS, and a bit less if you are aiming to become a dentist or a pharmacist (5 years), or a nurse (4 years). After the initial six years, you can become an owner of a graduate degree.

After this, you should attend an internship in one of the affiliate hospitals, where you are going to practice medicine and all you have learned under the supervision of the head of the department. The internship lasts one year, international students can do it as well as long as they pass all the exams and interviews.

If you wish to continue your education in Russia there are more postgraduate options available, like clinical residency and targeted residency. Both aim to enable in-depth knowledge of specific specialties that will allow you to work as a private practitioner. The residency lasts additional two years.

Your education can also go toward scientific research and a Ph.D. and this is available in Russia after the initial six-year program.
