1. The University of Indonesia

The University of Indonesia was named a State-Owned Legal Entity in the country, granting it autonomy in its academic development and finances in 2000. The university, established in 1987, has grown to become a university that offers education from the vocational level to the doctorate level in various disciplines. It also has an international class that gives access to its students an education in partnership with other universities abroad via joint programs, double degrees, and exchange programs.

With the University of Indonesia among the best nursing schools in Indonesia, its Faculty of Nursing is the oldest nursing faculty in the country which also serves as the center for higher education in Nursing. Tuition is subsidized for the regular students, but otherwise, fees are paid based on the student’s ability to pay for their education, which is stratified into categories and amounts to US$6 to US$524 per year. For the graduate studies, a developmental fund of US$210 is paid at the beginning of the year, and an average of US$524 per semester.

2. Brawijaya University

Brawijaya University became a state university in 1963, located in the city of Malang in East Java. It is one of the top universities in the country that offers education from the vocational to the doctorate levels. A joint degree in Master’s and doctorate is available for students enrolled in various disciplines. Its nursing program is offered under the Faculty of Medicine.

The Faculty of Medicine was formerly a private medical school known as the Malang School of Medicine in 1963. In 1976, the faculty became public and joined the university. The nursing program was offered in 1999 along with other health-related programs. The language of instruction is English and Indonesian. 3. Gadjah Mada University

4. Padjadjaran University

Padjadjaran university was founded in 1957 due to the mission of the government to launch a university that can offer a variety of disciplines. The university’s growth was rapid, with more than 10 faculties established in 6 years. The Faculty of Nursing was established in 2005; graduate studies and vocational school were opened in 1982 to improve the university’s performance. The university has 3 campuses: Pangandaran, Jainangor, and Dipatiukur.

The Faculty of Nursing has 3 programs: undergraduate, professional, and graduate nursing. It utilizes a competency-based curriculum and is the second oldest faculty of nursing in the country. The university is also partnered with various universities across the globe for exchange programs, joint research, and other academic activities.

5. Airlangga University

Airlangga University was established as the Dokter Dyawa School (Javanese Medical School) in 1851, with the majority of its faculties founded between 1961 and 1998. The university was given the State-owned legal entity status in 2006, and the Faculty of Nursing was made separate from the Faculty of Medicine in 2008. The university has an international program that offers its students to participate in exchange programs with participating universities outside the country.

The Faculty of Nursing began as a part of the Faculty of Medicine in 1997 and was founded due to the increasing demand for nursing service in the country. The bachelor’s in nursing was offered in 1999, and the nursing program was liberated for the Faculty of Medicine to form its faculty in 2008.
