1. Dalarna University

Located around 300 kilometers away from Sweden’s bustling capital city, Dalarna University (DU) is a public higher education institute with the goal of providing all learners with universal access to education. It has two campuses: Campus Borlänge and Campus Falun. In 2020, the university had around 16,700 students, and 72% of these pursued a web-based study program. In line with this, DU offers 66 programs and 1,092 courses.

At DU, they offer postgraduate study programs in data science. These aim to impart theoretical and practical data science knowledge to their students. In addition to this, the university’s official website states that it is important for prospective students to note that admission to the data science program can be particularly competitive.

2. Uppsala University

A public center of learning established in the year 1477, Uppsala University (UU) is Sweden’s first-ever university. More than 50,000 students and 7,000 employees are currently thriving at the institution. In addition to this, there are three main areas of learning at UU: humanities and social sciences, medicine and pharmacy, and science and technology. These are then spread out across the university’s nine faculties and around 60 departments.

It is considered a prestigious university, not only because of its rich historical background but also due to its high-quality education and innovative research. On top of that, UU has an extensive list of noteworthy alumni from 1477 until today. The university’s two-year applied data science program is for students at the Master’s level. EU/EEA citizens, Swedish residence permit holders, and exchange students are not charged tuition. On the other hand, for the students who do not belong to these categories, the full tuition fee is 294,000 SEK.

5. Lund University

Lund University is a public university that opened its doors to students in 1666. Today, it is regarded as an eminent learning center, and there are around 44,000 students and 8,000 staff at the institution. Additionally, Lund boasts of its world-class research facilities such as Max IV and European Spallation Source (ESS), which focus on material science and life science developments.

At the university, there are nine faculties: Faculty of Engineering, Faculty of Science, Faculty of Law, Faculty of Social Sciences, Faculty of Medicine, Faculties of Humanities and Theology, Faculty of Fine and Performing Arts, School of Aviation, and School of Economics and Management.

When it comes to data science, Lund offers a one-year Master’s program in Data Analytics and Business Economics. There is also another data science-related option for Master’s students: the two-year Social Scientific Data Analysis Master’s program.
