Eastern Kentucky University, or EKU, is a public higher education establishment that started its existence in 1906 in Richmond, Kentucky. Every year, more than 14,000 undergraduate students choose to pursue a degree here, along with some 2,000 graduate students. In this article, we will be looking at the acceptance rate at Eastern Kentucky University.

The educational services provided by EKU are regionally distributed. In addition to the main campus in Madison, there is one in Lancaster, and these two make the EKU Central Region. Then, there are also campuses in Manchester and Hazard, comprising the EKU East Region, and the regional campus in Corbin comprises the EKU South Region.

For a public university, EKU has very high academic standards and, with a student/faculty ratio of 16:1, it does not fall short of achieving them. Here it should be noted that almost all professors hold PhDs. This is only one of the reasons why this is currently the 28th best public university in the USA, with the academic emphasis being on law enforcement and security.

The most popular majors at Eastern Kentucky University are Homeland Security, Law Enforcement, Firefighting, and Related Protective Services This is also a good choice if you would like to pursue a career as a health professional. In general, two-thirds of the first-year students at EKU are happy with their overall experience there. The acceptance rate at the University of Eastern Kentucky is 70%, which is pretty high. So, if you apply, you can attend this university if you did well in high school.

The university’s central campus provides a wide variety of housing options. More expensive residence halls like Grand Campus and Martin Hall offer spacious and luxurious apartments and super suites, while Burnam Hall and Telford Hall offer more traditional suites. The cheapest accommodation option is renting a shared room in Palmer Hall or Sullivan Hall.

All campuses are absolutely safe – the areas are patrolled by the university police around the clock, and the entrance doors of all residence halls are secured with electronic passes. In addition, there are officials at the entrance desks at all times.

The total cost of attendance at EKU depends on whether or not you are a resident of the state of Kentucky. For Kentucky residents, the average cost of attendance is just over $17,000, while for non-residents it is about twice as much. Please note that your actual COA depends on the board and accommodation option that you are going to choose.

Over one-third of all EKU students are eligible for some kind of financial support and its average amount is over $6,000 a year. If this information is appealing to you, the deadline for filing an application is August 1st. The application fee of $30 is non-refundable.

Acceptance Rate at Eastern Kentucky University

EKU’s average GPA is 3.30, which makes it moderately competitive. A mixture of As and Bs at your high-school finals should be enough to secure you an admission.  If you are planning to apply with SAT, your score should be above 1,100. If ACT is your choice of application test, aim at getting a score of 24.

Although Eastern Kentucky University has a general acceptance rate of over 70%, you will definitely have to make some efforts to earn admission. These may include a well-written application essay and one or two recommendations from your high school teachers.
