This article will discuss the acceptance rate at Florida International University. This is a public university located in Miami, Florida. It belongs to the 12-campus State University System of Florida and is the fourth-largest in the US by enrollment (more than 48,000 undergraduates and nearly 9,000 postgraduates). Its founding began in 1943, but it was officially established in 1965. With 32 years, its president at that time, Charles “Chuck” Perry, was the youngest president in the history of the State University System. FIU’s first building was placed in the abandoned air traffic control tower on the site of the original Tamiami Airport. It has remained on campus ever since and is known as the “Ivory Tower.” From that single building, FIU has grown to be one of the largest universities in the country.

Today, Florida International University features two major campuses in Miami, as well as a few campuses and research facilities across South Florida, and in China and Italy. Most of FIU’s colleges and schools, as well as all main university facilities, are located on the main campus, today known as the Modesto Maidique Campus and located in University Park, Miami. FIU’s other campus is Biscayne Bay Campus, which opened in 1977. During the day on weekdays, student buses connect it to the main campus.

If you decide to apply and get accepted, which is fairly easy due to the somewhat competitive acceptance rate at Florida International University, there are many activities that you do on campus. There are more than 30 different fraternities and sororities students can join. And if you are not interested in going Greek, there are many other ways you can become a member of the FIU family. Check their clubs and organizations, and find a place for yourself.

Florida International University comprises 11 schools and colleges, including the Honors College. FIU’s Honors College is different than other Honors Colleges since it has a separate curriculum with its own faculty and administration. Once you are accepted, you can choose to study one or more of the 200 majors available at FIU. Many of these studying options are also available online.

Acceptance Rate at Florida International University

According to QS World University Rankings, Florida International University is ranked between 801-1000 among 1,000 of the world’s top universities. However, Times ranks it between 401-500 in the world and between 501-600 in the US, while US News ranks it as 187th in National Universities and 409th in the Best Global Universities Rankings (with a global score of 49.5).

With a Florida International University acceptance rate of 50%, the FIU admissions committee is considered moderately selective. Each year, the Florida Board of Education sets the minimum SAT and ACT test scores. Students who do not meet the minimum test score should take the PERT exam in order to demonstrate their college readiness. High school juniors who are requesting early admission should have an overall academic average of 4.0 on required high school units, as well as an SAT score of 1380 or an ACT composite score of 29.
