1. University of Cologne
The University of Cologne, a public research university in Germany was founded in 1388. It was one of the oldest operating universities in the world and also one of the places you can study Humanities programs without paying tuition fees. There are nearly 50,800 students in the university and around 650 faculty members. The university has six faculties, including the Faculty of Arts and Humanities.

The university was founded in 1870 in Germany, becoming one of the country’s most prestigious research institutions. Moreover, it ranks among the top universities in Science and Engineering globally, while maintaining an impressive reputation in other fields. As such, the university is one of the institutions funded by the German Council of Science and Humanities.
Currently, this free humanities school has more than 47,000 students, including 13,000 international students from more than 130 countries.
