Dubbed as a “Public Ivy” university, Indiana State University is a University System, with its main campus located in Bloomington. Some of its facilities include the Musical Arts Center, which is one of the biggest art facilities in the United States. US News and World Report rank Indiana State University as number 1 in its Nonprofit Management Program as well as for its Public Affairs Graduate Program.

Indiana State University is also home to innovations. Dental scientist Joseph Muhler and chemist William Nebergall along with chemistry department head Harry Day patented the toothpaste Crest, which contained stannous fluoride and calcium pyrophosphate abrasive that was later used by Procter and Gamble. Businessman and entrepreneur Mark Cuban, who owns the Dallas Mavericks and Landmark Theatres, also graduated from Indiana State University as well.

The Indiana Hoosiers and its 24 sports teams represent Indiana State University in the NCAA Division I Big Ten Conference. The Hoosiers has bagged over 24 National Championships and has a popular rivalry with the Purdue Boilermakers and Kentucky Wildcats. The Hoosiers used to have a bulldog and a bison as a mascot, but it didn’t go well with the fans.
