1. International Scholar Award

An annual stipend of $5,000 is given every year. The scholarship is renewable for the next three years.

Only freshman international students are considered eligible for this program. Students who are receiving some other sponsorship or reduction in tuition fees due to any reason are not eligible. Eligible students are automatically considered after admission and no additional application is required.


2. Transfer International Scholar Award

This award is for international transfer students enrolled in one of the undergraduate programs at ISU. Only students with a CGPA of 3.0 or more are eligible. This program provides an annual stipend of $5,000 to the selected transfer students. The scholarship is renewable for one more year.

Students who are fully sponsored or are already paying a reduced tuition fee are not eligible. All the international transfer students who meet the above requirements are considered for the scholarship. No additional application is required for this award.


3. Academic Incentive Scholarship

This Indiana State University scholarship is available for both freshman and transfers international undergraduate students. The students must have a minimum GPA of 3.0 (or CGPA in case of transfer students) to be considered eligible. The scholarship award is different for freshman and transfer students.

The selected freshman students get an annual scholarship of $4,000 that is renewable for the next seven semesters.

The selected transfer students get an annual scholarship of $3,000 that is renewable for the next one year only.

Indiana State University Graduate Scholarships

Graduate Assistantship Program

The international graduate students at Indiana State University can sponsor their education by working as graduate assistants at the university. The College of Graduate and Professional Studies at ISU offers more than 300 graduate assistantships to the students irrespective of their immigration status.

Four types of assistantships are offered by ISU College of Graduate and Professional Studies:

  • Teaching Assistantship (TA): The job of the TA is to teach some basic level courses to undergraduate students at ISU. A full-time TA will teach a 3 credit hour course in a lab or in classrooms.
  • Research Assistantship (RA): The responsibility of an RA is to support and help in externally funded research at ISU.
  • Clinical Interns (CI): A clinical intern works in a clinical professional setting at ISU. Graduate students are required to have associated clinical experience to work as clinical interns.
  • Administrative Intern (AI): An administrative intern is required to offer their services in the administration and management of the university. In return for their services, they are offered a reasonable amount by the university.

Only full-time graduate students at Indiana State University are eligible to apply for any of the above-mentioned graduate assistantships. Students with excellent academic records are preferred.

The graduate assistants are given tuition fee waivers as well as stipends provided by the concerned departments. A full-time GA is given 9 credit hours tuition fee waiver and a half-time GA is given a 4.5 credit hours tuition fee waiver. An annual minimum stipend is provided to all the graduate assistants according to their degree level, as published by the College of Graduate and Professional Studies every year.
