Just prior to the turn of the 20th century, Kingston Technical Institute opened its doors in London to teach a variety of scientific, engineering, and technical disciplines. After merging with the London College of Art and Gipsy Hill College, Kingston University was officially renamed in 1992, almost a full century after the Technical Institute’s establishment in 1899. Now with more than a century of tradition, Kingston University is one of the most desirable academic institutions for all students considering study within the premises of London. Also, international students have a chance to receive Kingston University scholarships which will allow them to study at this great institution.

As of December 2017, Kingston University instructed 17,547 total students, including almost 2,900 non-UK students from over 140 countries as diverse as Afghanistan and Zimbabwe. 2,108 members of staff were employed as of this date as well.

Students can study within five faculties, which are further divided into schools and degree programs. The faculties are the School of Art, the Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences, the Kingston Business School, the Faculty of Health, Social Care, and Education, and the Faculty of Science, Engineering, and Computing.

Classes and residential life at Kingston University all occur within four main campuses in Kingston Upon Thames in southwestern London. The central campus featuring the student union and other essential facilities is the Penrhyn Road campus, which is currently slated for a new landmark building to open in 2019.

The hilly Kingston Hill Campus, only three miles from the Kingston Town Centre, provides a strong community feel. The Kingston School of Art, Knights Park is situated along the idyllic Hogsmill River, a tributary of the River Thames. Engineering students take classes at the Roehampton Vale campus near Richmond Park. Finally, while not officially operated by Kingston University, some health and social care students take the majority of classes at the St. George’s University of London (SGUL) Campus.

With a commitment to providing education for all students, close to £2.4m of bursaries were provided in financial assistance in 2015-16. Kingston University’s most recent endowment was similarly estimated at  £2.3m in recent years.

Artists, musicians, business leaders, sports figures, and many more are all proud alumni of Kingston University. The school even maintains its own website page, Made in Kingston, to celebrate the many profiles that have achieved national and international recognition.
