Tuition Fee at Konkuk University for International Students

In general, the tuition fees at Konkuk University are considered affordable for international students, even though Konkuk isn’t the cheapest university in Korea. Admissions Requirements at Konkuk University for International Students

Those who wish to apply for admission at Konkuk University as an international undergraduate or graduate student must meet the following requirements:

Nationality Requirements

  • Both the applicant and his/her parents must be foreign nationals who don’t possess Korean citizenship.

Furthermore, undergraduate applicants must meet the following academic requirements:

  • All applicants must submit one or more language proficiency documents as set out in the admissions brochure.
  • Freshmen applicants must possess a valid certificate of completing educational levels as set out in the admissions brochure. The referred to 12-year education certificate can be from a school inside or outside of Korea.
  • Transfer applicants must possess a valid certificate of completing an undergraduate degree as set out in the admissions brochure. Transfer applicants may also be accepted if they complete or are expected to complete an associate degree program as set out in the admissions brochure.

Graduate students are required to meet the following academic requirements:

  • The applicant must have completed all educational levels as set out in the admissions brochure.
  • All applicants must meet one of the language proficiency requirements as set out in the admissions brochure.
  • For MA or PhD programs, applicants must hold the required degrees as set out in the admissions brochure.

Undergraduate Scholarships

1. Language Proficiency Scholarship

In short, it’s possible to study in Korea without any knowledge of the Korean language. Although, having exposure to the language can get you a scholarship at Konkuk University

When applying to study at Konkuk University, you can get a Korean language proficiency scholarship. To access this, you need to pass the TOPIK test. The TOPIK test evaluates your understanding of listening, reading, and writing the Korean language. Three different levels can be completed, which test your proficiency at a beginner, intermediate and advanced level. Registering for the TOPIK test can be done online if you live in Korea. If you’re in another country, you’ll have to contact the Korean embassy, Cultural Centre, or affiliate institutions.

When you pass TOPIK level 3, you can qualify for a 30% tuition scholarship at Konkuk University. A level 4 completion will put you in line for a 40% waiver, and a level 5 and 6 completion can respectively afford you a 50% and 60% tuition waiver.

2. Credit-Based Scholarship

University credits refer to the number of notional hours a student has studied to achieve a learning outcome. These hours include time spent studying, assignments submitted, and examinations that are taken. Each degree consists of its own number of credits for different modules.

To qualify for a credit-based scholarship at Konkuk University, students need to successfully obtain a certain number of credits. This needs to be done with good academic standing. Once they do, they can qualify for a tuition waiver scholarship of 20% to 100%.

Graduate Scholarships

1. New Student Scholarships

Students newly enrolled at Konkuk University can qualify for one of two scholarships under the new student category.

A general graduate scholarship at Konkuk University can be obtained when a student has completed a TOPIK test at level 6 (50% tuition waiver) or level 3 to 5 (30% tuition waiver).

A science scholarship can be obtained when a student has completed the TOPIK test with a pass level of 3 or has an English Proficiency Test Score as per the university regulations. This score can afford a student with a 50% tuition waiver.

2. Enrolled Student Scholarship

Enrolled students can also qualify for this Konkuk University scholarship for graduate students when specific requirements are met. Generally, the below conditions are required, although higher grades may be required when more students are enrolled.

For a scholarship with a 30% tuition waiver, students have to achieve an average grade point of 3.50 to 4.24. Students who achieve a grade of 4.25 or higher can be rewarded a 50% tuition waiver.

Science scholarships with a 50% tuition waiver can also be rewarded to students who achieve a 3.50 or higher grade point.
