Founded in 1972, the Mayo Clinic Alix School of Medicine (MCASOM) is one of the best private medical schools in the U.S. According to the U.S. News & World Report; it is the 9th best in terms of research and the 44th best in terms of primary care. Founded in 1888, the University of Minnesota Medical School is part of the Academic Health Centers (AHC), which also comprises the School of Dentistry, the School of Public Health, the College of Pharmacy, the College of Veterinary Medicine, and the School of Nursing.
In the 2019 U.S. News & World Report ranking of medical schools, it was the 10th best in terms of primary care, and the 43rd best in terms of research.
This medical school in Minnesota has two campuses: one in Duluth and the other one in Twin Cities. However, the Duluth campus is focused on rural healthcare and primary care and on educating Native American physicians.
