Currently, there are 1,845 international students at Sejong University. The international student population at the university is widely diverse as it is made up of 55 countries. 41% of this population came from China, making them the highest international student population. Out of 1,845, there are 882 undergraduate students and 469 graduate students. The majority of the undergraduate international students are enrolled in hospitality, tourism, and foodservice management.

International students in the university have the opportunity to be granted scholarships, depending on their academic qualifications and other documents. For housing, the university offers dormitories with spaces for around 150 occupants, two people per room. Moreover, international students can learn the Korean language at no extra cost because the university offers free Korean language classes. The class is for two hours, twice per week, after school to help students speak, read and write in Korean.

Tuition Fee at Sejong University for International Students

International students have a different cost of tuition compared to local students. For international undergraduate students, it may cost around KRW 4,520,000 (approx. USD 4,000) to KRW 6,052,000 (approx. USD 5,100),depending on your program. On the other hand, the estimated tuition fee for international graduate students may range from KRW 6,503,000 (approx. USD 5,500) to KRW 9,990,000 (approx. USD 8,400). These fees include admission and the tuition fee itself.

Additionally, you may need to pay other fees are included, such as housing, life, and medical insurance. These fees may vary depending on your gender and year level.

Application Fee at Sejong University

The application fee for undergraduates is KRW 128,000 (approx. USD 100). The application fee is refundable if you withdraw your application before the deadline. If you cancel your application after the deadline, it cannot be refunded anymore. For graduate students, the application fee is KRW 120,000 (approx. USD 100). Once the application has been received, it is considered non-refundable.

Admissions Requirements at Sejong University for International Students

All incoming international undergraduate applicants must complete a 12-year secondary education to be eligible for the program. Moreover, the university requires applicants to show a certain level of language proficiency, such as a TOEFL iBT score of 80, a New TEPS score of 326, an IELTS score of 5.5, or a TOPIK score of level 4 or 3. Depending on your course, you may also apply with Sejong Korean Language Program Completion, with a level 3 completion, level 5 completion, or level 4 completion.

If you are eligible for the program, you will be asked to submit your application form, copy of passport, language proficiency certificate of Korean or English language,  certificate of university enrollment, transcript of records, qualification review request form, study plan, portfolio (if applicable), recommendation letters, an official document showing the parent-child relationship, a copy of the both parents’ passport or ID card, verification of deposit (minimum of USD 20,000)  and an agreement for verification of academic record with signature. For graduate applicants, a bachelor’s and/or a master’s degree are required. They should be able to meet the necessary language requirements for either English or Korean. The requirements needed for submission are similar to the undergraduate degrees. Additional requirements are an eligibility document, research accomplishments list, curriculum vitae, employment certificates, portfolio or photographs of own works (if applicable), and scholarship application document. Sejong University remains steadfast in terms of global rankings. It is ranked 301-350 in the World University Ranking 2021 and 78th in Asia University Rankings 2020 published by Times Higher Education (THE), placing the university the 9th best Korean school out of all Korean universities.

1. Sejong International Scholarship A (First semester)

This Sejong University scholarship is for those who can meet any of their language requirements. For English Track, the percentage of scholarship awarded is dependent on your TOEFL iBT, IELTS, and New TEPS score. If you come from an English-speaking country, you are given a 30% scholarship. If you are applying through TOPIK, the percentage of scholarships is as follows: 100% for Level 6, 70% for Level 5, 50% for Level 4, and 30% for Level 3.

2. Sejong International Scholarship Outstanding Academic (Enrolled student)

The scholarship is aimed at currently enrolled students with exceptional grades and transfer students. If there is a change of nationality, the scholarship will be discontinued.

Some of their language requirements are a TOPIK score of level 5, a New TEPS score of 297, an IELTS score of 5.5, and more. If you come from English-speaking countries, you do not need to meet a language requirement.
