Dr. George McClellan, a renowned physician, laid the foundation of Jefferson Medical College in 1824, and the rest is history. Revolutionizing the field of medicine, it bridged the gap between practitioners and academics by allowing students to observe how doctors treat their patients. In 1877, it became the second institution in the U.S.A to have an affiliated teaching hospital. It was awarded University status in 1969. Recently in 2017, Thomas Jefferson and Philadelphia University merged to achieve the common goals of research and professional excellence. Now known as Jefferson (Thomas Jefferson+ Philadelphia University), it has two primary campuses in Philadelphia. Situated near Fairmount Park, the East falls campus has a lush green plantation throughout its 100-acre area, offering a serene environment to its students. Whereas, their Center city campus offers a more vibrant culture with alluring nightlife, sports, arts, and wellness opportunities. Having a combined history of more than three centuries, it is one of the oldest institutions in the U.S.A. The student financial aid office is very active as it works to secure funding by liaising with federal, state, and private organizations. Impressively, Ninety-six percent of the undergraduate and Sixty-five percent of its graduate students study on financial assistance throughout their academic career.

Based in one of the most diverse cities in the country, students get an opportunity to explore the exquisite cuisine, art, and culture as well as to meet people from around the world.
