In regards to obtaining a position in one of the Netherlands’ universities, you should be on the lookout for the acceptance rates, also known as Numerus Fixus in the Netherlands. Rather than having a competitive admissions system, the Dutch institutions provide their list of requirements that guarantees admission. Nevertheless, since 2017, there are some universities that have established “Decentralised Selection”, whereby Numerus Fixus (Limited Enrolments) come in accordance. 1. Leiden University

Ranked 67th in the World University Ranking, this university is the older university in the Netherlands. It is known for its historic foundations and emphasis on social science. They offer 12 English and 40 Dutch bachelor’s programmes, 78 English master’s programmes, and highly diverse Ph.D. tracks. In addition, within the Honours Academy, Leiden University offers an Honours College, the Leiden Leadership Programme, and the Leiden University College for excellent students. This university in the Netherlands has the lowest acceptance rate.

2. Avans University of Applied Science

As proclaimed the best multidisciplinary university in the Netherlands, Avans has a community of intelligent students and dedicated lecturers and staff. 3. Wittenborg University of Applied Sciences

Next on our list of Dutch universities with the lowest acceptance rates is Wittenborg University of Applied Sciences. “Better yourself, better our world” is the motto of this university. They have a mission to promote excellence in teaching and learning international business and management. This university was appointed by the Netherlands government, meaning that it falls under the regulations and laws of the Ministry of Education, Culture and Science, and Ministry Inspectorate. It is truly one of the most international management schools in the Netherlands, representing more than 60 countries of staff and students. The school became known for its Dutch language programmes in banking and insurance and real estate management, providing these industries in the Netherlands with hundreds of college graduates.

4. Amsterdam University, AMFI

As one of Europe’s most prominent research-led universities, it is also the Netherlands’ largest university. Within 31,186 students, 4,794 staff, 1,340 Ph.D. students, the university is organised into seven faculties: Humanities, Social and Behavioural Sciences, Economics and Business, Science, Law, Medicine, and Dentistry. Faculty members often receive research prizes and grants, such as those from the Netherlands Organization for Scientific Research (NWO). In addition to that, the university has an extensive central University Library (UBA), with over four million volumes. Some departments have their own libraries! There is no doubt that it is in the top 50th of the world.

Breda University is a government-funded higher education institute.
