Marist College was founded in 1905. The Marist Brothers have founded institutions all over the world, focused mainly on education. This college was one of them, and they initially created it to educate members of their group for their roles as future educators. However, this private college opened up its doors and was recognized by the state in 1929 as the institution broadened its offer of majors. Since then, the options at the college have widened from a focus only on liberal arts to other studies, including science programs. The acceptance rate at Marist College is 42%. This means less than half of the applicants are accepted. This college has a policy that established the introduction of ACT scores as optional. High school GPA is mandatory, and the students accepted had average recalculated ranges that went from 88 to 93. It’s important to note that approximately 83% of students that enter the college graduate from a program. This is higher than the average in the United States.
